William Brown

Funeral services for William Harry Brown, 91, of Hardin, Ky., will be held Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. followed by Masonic rites by Lodge # 567 F & AM on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown died at 6:22 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

He was a 60-year member of Hardin-Berkley Lodge # 567 F & AM, a retired farmer, and had been employed by TVA at the Atomic Plant in Paducah, Murray State University for seven and 1/2 years, and National Carbide, in Calvert City, for 17 years. He was also a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran.

He was born Jan. 21, 1920, in Calloway County to the late William Harvey and Mary T. (Newsom) Brown. He married Virginia Ruth (Lyles) Brown on Nov. 20, 1938, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 2008.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Leonard Brown, L.D. Brown, Elwood Brown, and John Thomas Brown; and two sisters, Mable Farmer and Pauline Hatchett.

He is survived by two sons, Charles W. Brown and wife, Shirley J., of Hardin, and Loman Dale Brown and wife, Christine, of Bath, Ohio; one sister, Alta Pearl Vostry, of Alaska; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Don Butler, Logan Brown, Lyle Brown, Troy Brown, Don Nanney and Pat Murphy.
