MURRAY, Ky. - Services for Talmadge E. Fannin, 83, of Murray, formerly of Portsmouth, Ohio, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Dr. Jim Simmons and the Revs. Jerrel White and Martin Severns will officiate. Burial will be at Murray Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Fannin died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
He retired from Murray State University as director of the physical plant department. Mr. Fannin also retired from the U.S. Air Force as chief master sergeant, serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he taught the men's adult Sunday school class. Mr. Fannin co-founded the Edwin Hodges Literature Ministry and the Blood River Association's Baptist Builders. He held several leadership positions in Boy Scouts of America.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby P. Fannin; three sons, Dr. Timothy Fannin of South Deerfield, Mass., Dr. Quentin Fannin of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Dr. Harry Fannin of Murray; two brothers, Beech Fannin and Claude Fannin, both of Akron, Ohio; three sisters, Betty Jo Mault and Margaret Ann McCoy, both of Portsmouth, and Mary Jane Fannin of Proctorville, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. His parents were Harry G. Fannin and Amanda Adkins Fannin.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
