MURRAY, Ky. - Services for Sylvia Jane Calhoun Lane, 90, of Las Vegas, formerly of Murray, will be at noon Friday at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Dr. Greg Earwood officiating. Burial will be at Murray Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Lane died at 1 a.m. Saturday at Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas.
A native of Eddyville, she formerly attended Murray First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Saints Alive Choir and the Ester Sunday school class. Mrs. Lane was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Garden Department of the Murray Women's Club. She was a retired teacher, having taught in Lyon County, Grand Rivers and Trigg County High School. Mrs. Lane served as supervisor of education for Wakulla County, Fla., and Rose Warren Elementary School in Las Vegas.
Surviving are one daughter, Julia Lee Lane-Hiltz of Las Vegas; one sister, Elsie Kathryn Stutts of Tampa, Fla.; two grandchildren, Megan Makenzi Lane of Knoxville, Tenn., and Molly Lane Poteet of Las Vegas; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Lane; two sisters; and four brothers. Her parents were Terry Aurelious Calhoun and Julia Hortence Knoth.
