Salome Allen

April 16, 1929 — August 17, 2018

Mrs. Salome Allen, 89, of Murray, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Plumley Rehabilitation in Paris, TN.

Mrs. Allen was born on April 16, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Paul Morton and Lola Dunnaway Morton. Salome earned her Bachelor's Degree from Wayne State in Michigan and later owned and operated Jack and Jill Preschool in Murray. She had an unwavering love for children, as well as animals and loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She was of Baptist Faith.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Burris; her second husband, Sebree Allen; two brothers, Mikey Morton and Billy Morton and a sister, Sue Windsor.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Linda Bartholomy (Matt) of Murray, Raylene Gagel of Murray; a son, David Burris of Murray; two brothers, Edward Morton (Shirley) of Murray, Donnie Morton (Nancy) of Murray; two sisters, Paula Jean Rogers of Winter Haven, FL, Kay Mack (Kevin) of Murray and six grandchildren, Joseph Gagel of Louisville, Jessica Ray Gagel of California, Bella Bartholomy, Wesley Austin Burris and Mike Burris all of Murray.

The funeral service is set for 11:30 am on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home, 1804 Highway 121 Bypass North, Murray. Matt Ellis will officiate and entombment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens.

The family of Mrs. Allen will receive visitors from 10 am until the funeral hour on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Heritage Chapel.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
