Ronald L. 'Ron' Sykes
Ronald L. "Ron" Sykes, 66, of Murray, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, at 9:50 p.m. at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Born April 10,1944 in Chicago, Ill., he was employed as an automobile detailer.
Sykes was preceded in death by his father, Byron Sykes; and one grandson, Corey Sykes.
He is survived by his mother, Mable (Lee) Sykes of Murray; two daughters, Dawn Sykes of Chicago, and Kim Yarbrough and husband, Loyd of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Mike Sykes of Murray, and Jim Sykes of Chicago; two sisters, Phyllis Sykes of Marion, and Bessie Harrison of Murray; four grandchildren, Sean Rodriquez, Heather Rodriquez, Breanne Sykes and Liam Sykes; one niece, Lisa Ramsey of Clarksville, Tenn.; three nephews, Ron Harrison of Murray, Don Harrison of Mayfield, and James Harrison of Boise, Idaho; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home with the Rev. Brett Miles officiating. Entombment will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Driver, Stanley Tucker, Roger Starks, Larry Ray, Gary Ray and Charlie Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be all friends from Bondo Alley.
Visitation will be tonight, Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Pat Latimer, 101 S. 4th Street, Murray, KY 42071.
