Mrs. Robbie Lee Stamps, age 97, of Murray, Kentucky died on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray.
Mrs. Stamps was born in Murray, Kentucky on February 24, 1919 to the late John Bernard Trevathan and Otie (Houston) Trevathan. Mrs. Stamps was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Be One Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. Many local residents remember her as the capable and friendly salesperson at Ryan's Shoe Store, Mademoiselle's Clothing Store and Holland Drug Store. Mrs. Stamps was recognized as an outstanding and talented Ball Room dancer and was the recipient of many trophies and awards in Ball Room Dance Competitions. She loved to cook for her family, especially birthdays and excelled in baking and was known for her delicious cakes.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Stamps was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Judson Stamps; and by her brother, Ben Houston Trevathan.
Mrs. Stamps is survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Trevathan of Murray, Kentucky; one niece, Melissa Trevathan of Nashville, Tennessee; two nephews, Dr. Steven Lee Trevathan and wife Betsy of Murray, Kentucky and John Kimble Trevathan of Maryville, Tennessee; three great nephews, Dr. George Benjamin Trevathan and wife Rebecca of Heritage, Pennsylvania, Dr. John Houston Trevathan of Bloomington, Indiana and Samuel Grant Trevathan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two great nieces, Madeline West Trevathan of Murray, Kentucky and Erin Elizabeth Trevathan of Denver, Colorado; as well as one great-great nephew, Benjamin Branch Trevathan of Heritage, Pennsylvania.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Stahler officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
