Ramon Turner

Ramon Lee "Doc" Turner, 79, of Murray, died at 12:04 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. He was born June 30, 1931, in Trigg County. He was a member, deacon and trustee of Northside Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired as a chemical operator from B.F. Goodrich in Calvert City, with 35 years of service. He was a 1950 graduate of Trigg County High School, where he played basketball and football. He also coached Youth baseball, and was an avid UK basketball fan.

Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (Wallace) Turner, to whom he was married Nov. 28,1952; one daughter, Janeann Turner of Murray; two sons, Terry Turner of Paris Landing, Tenn., and Scott Turner (Stacey) of Grand Rivers; one sister, Ella Mae Cross of Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, Hezzie Turner; five grandchildren, Jesse Turner (Jessica), Taylor Turner, Dylan Holt, Hunter Holt and Joshua Turner; one great-grandchild, Jayda Turner; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Owen Downs; three brothers, Coen Turner, Jack Turner and Oval Turner; and one granddaughter, Keri Turner. His parents were Breferd and Katie (Snider) Turner.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Brett Miles officiating. Burial will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home, and after 12 noon Saturday at Northside Baptist Church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Turner's nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons, Trustees, and the men of the Senior Adult Sunday School class of Northside Baptist Church. Max McGinnis will lead congregational music.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Northside Baptist Church Building Fund, for a stained glass window in memory of Mr. Ramon Lee Turner, c/o Rev. Brett Miles, 1477 Boggess Drive, Almo, KY 42020.
