Mary Jo Workman Dortch, 82, of Murray, died Monday, July 18, 2011, at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray.

Born July 2, 1929 in Calloway County, to the late Ollie Workman and Mary Susie Marshall Workman, she was the owner and operator of Jo's Beauty Shop for 34 years before retiring. She was also a member of the Martin's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Preceding in death were her husband, Joe West Dortch, who died on June 5, 1999; her four sisters, Marelle Loafman, Doris Hopkins, Roxie Burkeen and her twin sister, Sue Vinson; and two brothers, Samuel and Clayton Workman.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Saddoris Johnson and husband, Shorty; three grandchildren, Joe Russell Saddoris, Mitchell Ray Saddoris and Breanne Hayes; special friend, Doris Williams, all of Murray; two brothers-in-law, Willie Owen Vinson of Hazel, and Eddie Dortch and wife, Sue of Louisville; two sisters-in-law, Christine Workman of South Gate, Mich. and Hilda Stevenson of Hopkinsville; and local nieces, Patty Ezell and husband, Wayne of Lone Oak, Vickie Holland and husband, James of Murray and Beth Mangrum and husband, Keith of Hazel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Burkeen officiating. Burial to follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be tonight, Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
