Henry Sergent

Mr. Henry Warren Sergent, age 87, of Murray, Kentucky, died on Monday, December 17, 2018, at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

Mr. Sergent was born November 16,1931 in Democrat, Kentucky to the late Samuel C. Sergent and Pollyann Taylor Sergent. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Faye Day Sergent; three sisters, Emma Lou Engle, Sarah Belle Sergent and Ethel Sanders; one brother, Chester Sergent; grandson, Christopher Basham.

Mr. Sergent was a retired Police officer with the Chicago Police Department after 30 years of service, he was a member of the Illinois Police Association, an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a life member of the Chicago VFW. He was a member of the William McKinney masonic lodge #876 and the Medin ah Temple AAONMS Shriners of Chicago, Illinois. He was a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Anthena Opalka and husband Michael of Round Lake, Illinois, Deliana Langston of Mayfield, Kentucky and Melissa Taylor and significant other Danny Laxton of Brighton, Tennessee; two sisters, Opal Jean Adams of Louisville, Kentucky and Anna Lee Goins of Democrat, Kentucky; two brothers, Richard Sergent of Lorain, Ohio and Ronald Buford Sergent of Huntsville, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Rebecca Basham, Lauran Marie Opalka, Seth Donal Gouin, Melinda Faye Gouin, Michael Warren Gouin, Jennifer Elaine Gouin, Richard Lynn Wheeler, Christopher Allen Wheeler and Billy James Wheeler; also sixteen great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 10am Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Bro. Andy Harrell will officiate, and burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
