A memorial mass for Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann Vaida O'Neill Bowden, 84, of Murray, will be held today, Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church in Murray. Father Jason McClure will officiate. A committal service will follow at the Murray Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will also be today, from 9-10 a.m. at St. Leo. Bowden died Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at Spring Creek Health Care.
Born Oct. 30, 1926 in Chisolm, Minn., she was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Murray.
Preceding in death were her first husband, Dr. John T. O'Neill; second husband, Kenneth R. Bowden; parents, John Matthias Vaida and Mary Frances Brince; and a sister, Margaret Brisley.
She is survived by two sons, Kevin J. O'Neill and wife, Pat of Bardwell, and Brian T. O'Neill of Murray; three daughters, Kathleen Howard and husband, Glenn of Sedalia, Margaret O'Neill of Los Osos, Calif. and June Rogalla and husband, Lyle of Hugo, Minn.; a brother, John B. Vaida of Eveleth of Minn.; two sisters, Rosemary Simons of Side Lake, Minn. and Barbara Grillo and husband, Bill of Falmouth, Mass.; nine grandchildren, one step-grandchild and several great-grandchildren.
