Charles Bowerman

Charles Bowerman, 83, of Kirksey, Ky., died Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at his home.

He was born in Marshall County on Oct. 19, 1927, to the late Noah Bowerman and Lala Thompson Bowerman.

He was employed with Tappan Manufacturing Company for 30 years; he also was employed at the Calloway County Health Department for 12 years in the maintenance department and was a former employee of Wal-Mart for six years. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Harrison Bowerman; one sister, Mary Bowerman Lee; and two brothers, William Bowerman and Ed Bowerman.

He is survived by his wife, Verlene Beane Joseph Bowerman, of Kirksey, to whom he married on July 28, 1994, in Kirksey; one daughter, Debbie Norsworthy, of Murray; one son, Ronnie Bowerman, of Syracuse, N.Y.; two step-daughters, Janice Hays and husband, Jim, of Murray, and Teresa Cavitt, and husband, Steve , of Dyersburg, Tenn.; three step-sons, Jerry Joseph, and wife, Mary Lou, of St. Peters, Miss., Roger Joseph, of Collierville, Tenn., and Barry Joseph, and wife, Jayde, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Verlene Bowerman, of Benton; three grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren; and 24 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Thorn officiating. A private family burial will take place on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home.
