Mr. Billy Joe Coursey, age 83, of Benton, Kentucky died at his home on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.
Mr. Coursey was born September 25, 1931 in Calloway County, Kentucky, to the late Harmon and Vadie Adams Coursey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Carlene Coursey, Rubena Clendenen, and Dorothy Lamb; also one brother, Leon Coursey. He was retired from the Marshall County School System after 23 years of service, was an Army veteran, and a member of the Church Grove United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Joyce Coursey of Benton, Kentucky; they married September 7, 1955 in Marshall County, Kentucky; daughter, Sharon L. Burd and partner Jewell Cunningham of Benton, Kentucky; son, Mark L. Coursey and wife Judy of Franklin, Tennessee; also five grandchildren, Kathy J. Reynolds, Amanda L. Burd, Richard "Steven" Burd, Christopher L. Coursey, and Shelby L. Coursey; five great-grandchildren, Jake Lovelace, MaKay Burd, Madison Burd, Sidney Washburn, and Chase Washburn.

Graveside services were held 3:30 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Murray Memorial Gardens, Bro. Elijah Balentine, and Rev. David Garrett will officiate, and burial with Military Honors followed. Visitation was held Friday, September 25, 2015 from 1-3 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
