Billy Carson

Mr. Billy Gene Carson, 77, of Benton, died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011, at his home. He was a member of South Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army veteran and retired from General Tire and Rubber Co. with 33 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis J. (Maupin) Carson; two sons, Ricky Gene Carson (Denay) of Puryear, Tenn., and Donald Carson of Hazel; two sisters, Mary Buchanan of Farmington, and Shirley Heath (Donnie) of Draffenville; two brothers; James Carson of Murray, and Edwin Carson of Lansing, Mich.; six grandchildren, Tyler Carson, Matthew Carson, Lauren Carson (Fiancé, Brian Couch), Skyler Carson, Jennifer Gross and Tommy Starks (Christy), and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Starks, Shawn Starks and Ryan Starks.

Mr. Carson was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Carson; and one brother, Donald Carson. He was born May 29, 1934 in Kirksey, and his parents were Robert and Meadow (Wilson) Carson.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens with military honors. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. tonight, Saturday at Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Troy Filbeck, Mike Moryal, Tommy Buchanan, Tommy Starks, Barry Travis and Kerry McClure. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren.
