Billie Jo (White) Shelton

June 6, 1929 ~ January 9, 2019 (age 89)

rs. Billie Jo Shelton, age 89, of Murray, Kentucky, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House in Murray.

Mrs. Shelton was born on June 6, 1929, in Calloway County, Kentucky to the late Early White and Ovie (Adams) White. Before retiring, Mrs. Shelton was a school bus driver for both the Murray City School System and the Calloway County School System. Mrs. Shelton also farmed alongside her late husband, Vesta, who died in 2014. She enjoyed mowing her yard, was an avid fisher and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by two daughters, Sue Shelton Brandon and Janice Shelton Meadows; one sister, Freda Davis; and a nephew, Nicky Davis.

Mrs. Shelton is survived by two daughters, Diane Scott of Hazel, Kentucky and Joan Beard and husband Joe of New Concord, Kentucky; one brother, Jerry White of Hazel, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Christine Ratteree of Murray, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Christy Garland and husband Chad of Dexter, Kentucky, Tasha Jo Beard of Almo, Kentucky, Dustin Leon Beard of New Concord, Kentucky, Tammy Jo Merrell of Sedalia, Kentucky and Lisa Overbey Crass and special friend Shane Jackson of Pilot Oak, Kentucky; several great-grandchildren; as well as a niece, Sharon Davis of Hazel, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Bro. Brett Miles and Bro. Hal Shipley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
